Italian Cup
The Italian Cup is a disposable sample presentation accessory designed for the analysis of viscous products where reusable cups are not suitable for sanitary reasons. It provides a practical and hygienic solution for routine NIR analysis of challenging sample types and is particularly well suited for applications that require single-use sample handling.
Originally introduced for the analysis of human and animal faeces, the Italian Cup can also be used for many other viscous samples that cannot be measured with standard cups. The samples are analysed in reflection mode. For measurement, the sample is placed in the center of the cup and covered with a microscope slide. Excess sample is displaced into the surrounding groove, creating a homogeneous and bubble-free sample layer. This design supports consistent sample presentation and helps ensure reliable and repeatable analysis results.
